Healing wounds in Vinnytsia

Updated: Jul 1

On 14 July 2022, the central Ukrainian city of Vinnytsia was the victim of a Russian missile attack that left over 200 seriously injured and 28 dead, including four-year-old Liza Dmytrieva, who was born with Down syndrome.

At the Vinnytsia Regional Hospital, 20 seriously injured patients were admitted to the burns department every minute.

Today, the hospital is one of the most important care centres for the wounded in Ukraine and specialises in burns.

The hospital asked us for help because they needed electric beds in particular. We have therefore planned an aid transport to Vinnytsia in the week of 14 July 2024. Two years after the terrible attack, this should help to expand the capacity for treating burns.

Thank you very much if you donate to help transport over 30 electric hospital beds from Switzerland to Vinnytsia.

Severe burns in war: more and more children affected

Dr Roman Chornopyshchuk, head of the burns department, reports an alarming increase in the number of children with severe burns.

He and his team have already treated 100 cases this year alone. The demand for electric care beds is urgently needed in his department due to the enormous amount of care required. Despite the continuous expansion of capacity since the beginning of the war, the need remains acute.

His call for help reached us via the international Johanniter network, which maintains direct contact with the regional hospital in Vinnytsia and monitors the proper use of material donations on site. In a few days, our first aid transport with hospital beds will be sent to Vinnytsia.

The cause was a crashed bomb drone.
