Swiss aid for Africa – a hospital bed for Fatou

We are currently receiving an increasing number of requests for medical and humanitarian assistance, particularly from the African continent – including Ghana, Cameroon, and Senegal.

Thanks to our close contact with Jacques Ndiaye from the Order of Malta in Senegal, we know that medical care there is mainly concentrated in the capital. Two-thirds of all doctors work in Dakar, while the rest of the country's rural areas have little access to medical infrastructure. There is not only a shortage of doctors, but also of hospitals and medical supplies: in many regions, 1,000 inhabitants share just 0.7 hospital beds – often there are no facilities at all.

To counteract this problem, we are currently planning shipments of hospital beds and other medical equipment to Senegal and other African countries. The freight costs for one container amount to around CHF 7,500 – an investment that is well worth it: it not only helps the environment because the equipment is reused, but above all it helps the local people. With each shipment, we can provide 30 hospital beds – such as for little Fatou, who is urgently awaiting surgery.

We kindly ask for your support so that we can continue this important work. Every contribution counts!

Thank you for your solidarity.
